IMMUNOTHERAPY COST IN INDIA

Immunotherapy cost in India

Immunotherapy helps your immune system fight cancer. It suits some cancers and some patients, not all, so the first step is an oncologist’s review of your reports. We arrange that review and a written estimate before you travel.

Medical recommendations come from your qualified treating clinicians.

01

What is cancer immunotherapy?

The most widely used immunotherapy drugs are checkpoint inhibitors, which help the immune system recognise cancer cells. They are used for some lung, kidney, bladder, head and neck, skin and other cancers, and are usually given as a drip every two to six weeks.

Whether immunotherapy suits you depends on the cancer type, stage and test results such as PD-L1 or MSI. Your oncologist explains whether it is likely to help and how it fits with chemotherapy or other treatment.

Why immunotherapy costs differ

The medicine itself is usually the largest part of the cost. The main factors are:

  • Which drug is recommended
  • Your dose, which may depend on your weight
  • How many doses you need and how often
  • Whether it is combined with chemotherapy
  • Tests before treatment, such as PD-L1
  • Scans and blood tests during treatment
03

What an immunotherapy estimate usually covers

Ask for the cost per dose and for the expected course, and check whether day-care charges, consultations and routine tests are included. Treatment of side effects is usually extra.

04

How long to plan for in India

Many patients have the first one or two doses in India so the team can check for side effects, then continue with an oncologist at home where possible. Your oncologist confirms the plan.

05

Choosing a cancer centre

Choose a centre with experience of immunotherapy for your cancer type and a team that can manage immune-related side effects.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does immunotherapy cost in India?⌄

It depends on the drug, dose and number of doses, so there is no single price. The oncology team gives a written estimate after reviewing your reports.

Will immunotherapy work for my cancer?⌄

It works for some cancers and some patients. Your oncologist reviews your reports and test results and tells you whether it is likely to help.

Is immunotherapy the same as chemotherapy?⌄

No. Chemotherapy attacks cancer cells directly; immunotherapy helps your immune system fight the cancer. Some plans use both.

Can I continue immunotherapy at home?⌄

Often yes, if the drug is available in your country and your local oncologist agrees to follow the plan.
