SECOND OPINION
Second medical opinion from India
A second medical opinion can confirm a diagnosis, suggest other treatment options or help you decide where to be treated. Send us your reports and, with your consent, senior specialists at leading hospitals in Delhi NCR review your case and give you a written opinion. It is free, and you don't have to travel.
Medical recommendations come from your qualified treating clinicians.
Why patients ask for a second opinion from India
A diagnosis like cancer, heart disease or organ failure changes lives, and the treatment you choose is hard to undo. A second opinion from a specialist who sees many similar cases can confirm you are on the right path, or show you options you were not offered.
- Confirm a diagnosis before major surgery or long treatment
- Check whether newer options suit you, such as robotic surgery, TAVI or CAR-T cell therapy
- Find out whether treatment can be done in India, how long you would stay and what it would cost
- Get a specialist's view when treatment at home is not available or has a long wait
How it works, step by step
- 1. Send a short enquiry. Tell us your diagnosis and country through the form or WhatsApp. We usually reply within one working day.
- 2. We list the reports needed. Your coordinator tells you exactly which reports and scans the specialist needs for your condition.
- 3. You give consent. We share your reports only with the hospitals and specialists you agree to.
- 4. Specialists review your case. Senior specialists at leading Delhi NCR hospitals study your reports. We can ask more than one hospital, so you can compare opinions.
- 5. You receive a written opinion. It usually arrives a few working days after your reports are complete. If treatment in India is suggested, it comes with a written cost estimate from the hospital.
- 6. Talk it through. Your coordinator explains the opinion in plain language. On request, we arrange a video consultation with the specialist; the first one is free.
- 7. You decide. You can share the opinion with your own doctor. There is no obligation to travel.
Reports to send
The more complete your reports, the more useful the opinion. Send what you have; your coordinator will tell you if anything is missing.
- All cases: a summary from your doctor, current medicines, past treatment and surgery
- Cancer: biopsy (histopathology) and IHC reports, PET-CT or CT/MRI, blood tests, chemotherapy or radiation history
- Heart: echocardiogram, ECG, angiography report and CD, stress test if done
- Joints and spine: X-rays and MRI, with the images where possible, not just the written report
- Brain and nerves: MRI or CT of the brain or spine (images on CD), neurologist's notes
- Kidney or liver transplant: creatinine, liver function and other blood tests, scans, dialysis history, details of a possible family donor
- Fertility: hormone tests, semen analysis, ultrasound reports, details of earlier IVF cycles
Scan images (DICOM files on a CD or a download link) help specialists more than the written report alone.
What you receive
A written opinion from the specialist, in English, covering:
- Whether they agree with the diagnosis, or what further tests they suggest
- Treatment options for your case, and which they recommend
- Whether you would need to come to India, and roughly how long you would stay
- A written cost estimate from the hospital, if treatment in India is suggested
If you asked more than one hospital, we put the opinions side by side so you can compare.
Specialties we cover
We arrange second opinions in every specialty below, and in children's treatment. Cancer opinions come from oncologists in India.
Cost and timing
The second opinion is free and there is no obligation to travel. We usually reply to your enquiry within one working day, and opinions arrive a few working days after your reports are complete; complex cases or opinions from several hospitals can take longer.
Orvica does not charge patients. Hospitals pay Orvica a referral fee, as explained in our terms of use.
What a second opinion can and can't do
A specialist's review of your reports can confirm or question a diagnosis and suggest options. It is not a replacement for an examination, and the final plan is always confirmed after the hospital sees you in person. Keep your own doctor informed, and don't stop or change treatment without speaking to them.
Your privacy
We share your medical information only with the hospitals and specialists you agree to, and never send enquiry or medical details to Google or Meta.
