IVF treatment in India for international couples

Couples choose IVF in India for experienced fertility specialists, modern embryology laboratories and lower costs. One IVF cycle usually takes about three to four weeks from the start of stimulation to embryo transfer, and some couples freeze embryos for a later transfer.

India regulates fertility treatment closely, so it is important to understand the rules before you plan (see below).

  • Surgical sperm retrieval
  • Hysteroscopy and laparoscopy to prepare for IVF

Choosing an IVF clinic and doctor

Ask for the clinic’s results for patients of your age, how many embryos it usually transfers, whether it has its own embryology laboratory, and exactly what the estimate includes.

04

India’s fertility rules

The Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021 sets age limits for treatment (generally 21 to 50 for women and 21 to 55 for men) and rules for donor eggs and sperm. Commercial surrogacy is not allowed, and surrogacy is not available to foreign nationals. Your clinic confirms what applies to your situation.
